Heron Point is located within Chestertown's town limits, in walking distance (about a mile) from the center of town and from Washington College, a liberal arts college to which Washington gave permission to use his name in 1782. We are less than two hours driving time to Washington, DC, Annapolis or Baltimore, MD, Wilmington, DE, or Philadelphia, PA.
Chestertown is an interesting historic town situated in an historic area. We even have an annual Tea Party, which commemorates the 1774 protest by the citizenry of the town, just as happened in Boston.
Among the community's many activities and organizations are garden and house tours and an active historical society. Chestertown has had the distinction of being recognized by "Modern Maturity" magazine (now AARP Magazine) as an outstanding place to live. It is located about thirty miles due east of Baltimore, across the Chesapeake Bay, and is situated on the Chester River which flows into the Bay. This area is also known as the Eastern Shore.
